Discriminant
The number inside the square root (b^2 - 4ac) of the quadratic formula is called the Discriminant (D). It helps us tell how many solutions a quadratic equation has.
No solutions, negative
2 different solutions, positive
D > 0
D < 0
D = 0
There's one solution and it's called double solution
Example
0 = 2x^2 + 4x + 2
There's one solution and it's called double solution
Quadratic formula
When you square root a number there's always a positive (+) and negative (-)
